I'm going to put you guys through my journey in Perth for my 3 weeks stay there,and maybe give you some tips just in case you plan of travelling to Australia ;)
First of all,you need to plan your dates,and flights.Before i go any further,i advise that it's much more convenient and cheaper if you happen to have any relatives or friends that stay in Australia,because hotel or even the simplest motel could cost a fortune for accomodation.
I chose Air Asia.Why?The price of a return ticket from other companies like MAS is about rm2000 more than Air Asia!!I thought since i was going on budget travelling anyways,i didn't really mind about being comfortable.Air Asia costs only about RM1400++ inclusive of check in baggage of 15kg,and insurance.
I sat next to a chinese boy in the plane to LCCT,and we happen to chat.Coincidently,he was going on the same Perth flight as i was.Nice boy,studying engineering in Adelaide,Keat Hwa boy,haha...
I asked Afe to teman me at LCCT,but only for about 1 hour,after that,i was all alone,going through the custom officers,and lines...and lines.If you're going on an international flight,please please please check in your baggage 2 hours before your scheduled flight.Seriously,,,damn long okay the que!!
Of course,you pay cheap,you deserve a 'cheap' journey on the plane.ahaks!For that price,i had to sit up straight the whole 6-7 hours....yesss,even a bus ride felt much more comfortable,!I didn't order any food,so i was literally starving in the plane,hehe.The staff were friendly,looks?not bad laa,sedap mata dipandang,hehe.
I arrived Perth Airport at about 6am.In Malaysia,yes,wear the least clothes you can,but in Australia,get your jackets ready!!The moment i stepped out of the plane,i went all "wahhh..this feels a lot like genting!!"...syiokkk!!!
Australia is known for its strict rules.Here are some tips to go through their customs scanners and officers.
1)any metal belongings,put aside,as it will trigger the scanners.Watches,belts,coins,keys...
2)it's advisable not to bring any food,traditional medicines,ivories...As you get down,they would ask these questions,and if you happen to bring any,you'll have to claim them.That means,going through all the trouble of opening up your bag and showing them to the officers.
3)liquid containers or aerosol cans of such like perfume,make up,soap cannot be brought up on the plane,if it's more than 100ml.
4)If you bring medications,(like me,i'm asthmatic,so i had my pump with me),spare a doctor's letter,or prescription letter that proves you're a patient.
5)take note of the address you'll be heading to,because i had problems there!haha..and had to go through questioning from 2 different officers because i didn't know what my cousin's address was..
However,they were friendly and helpful people,i felt easy with them.They greeted each and every tourist with a "Good morning,how are you doing today?*smiles*".I felt really welcomed,some were good looking too,ahakss!!
I bet i arrived with such an excited and blurry face.Maybe that's why the officers were kind of worried and questioned me alot.But no worries,as long as i kept a smiley cute face,i was sure i wouldn't be in any trouble!kah3!!Oh yeah,then i bumped into that same chinese boy,he was very kind!
CB: so,how are you going to call your cousins?
me:...errr...
CB: do you have any coins?
me: errr...not really ~_~
CB: *put his hands into pocket* Here,take some 50 cent coins,use the pay phone and call them yahh.
me: wow,thanx a lot!!whoa....australian coins are really heavy huh...
CB:..yupp...that's why my pants are so heavy,haha.
Walahhh!!That was how I got my first australian coins!!ngeeee
Then he headed off to his destination,and i was left alone,wandering looking for a payphone.When i finally found one,i didn't know how to call my cousin,haha!!The number that i had in my handphone was up to 11 digits that started with 614.I tried many times,but failed.Then,i tried taking out the 6.yess!!finally,a dial tone!!
Stranger: hello?*in thick australian accent*
Me: err...*realising she didn't really sound like my MALAYSIAN cousin*...ermm..is this hwuey leing?
Stranger: owhh,no sorry,i think you've got the wrong number.
Aiyakk!malu!!There goes my first 50cent coin.Luckily i had another one,it was as if that chinese boy knew i would have this embarrasing problem,haha!!
I mustered enough confidence to go ask a counter girl nearby,she looked asian india a bit.
Me: Excuse me,ermm...i tried to call this australian number,but i couldnt get through,*handing her my handphone to let her see,but damn maluuu,since my hp is such an antique,haha!!*
Counter girl: Ohhh,you have to replace the 614, with 04 *thick australian accent*
Me:...errr..sorry,i didn't get you..
Counter girl: you take out the 61,and just replace it with 0,then the number would start with 04.
Bengap gila kan i,hahah!!!
I succeeded calling my cousin,wooohooo!!But i had to wait for another hour for them to arrive.So i took some fresh air outside the airport,even though it was only 6.45am,but the sun was already up like 8am malaysian time!!
I observed the surrounding,i realised that there were a lot of crows!!and they were huge!!and loud!!
The whole road system is totally different in Australia,much more systematic.While i was sitting outside,some chinese fellow approached me.I noticed him pacing back and forth for a quite a while.
Guy: ni she ....bla bla bla shiao che ma?
He spoke in mandarin to me,asking,"are you miss (some chinese girl's name)"
I was like..."err...bu she..",which meant no.I felt a bit weird,do i look like some mainland china girl??hahaha!!goshHHh,my face is soOo malaysian okayy,kihkikhi!!
About 8am,my cousins arrived,yahoooOOo!!!Spent more than a minute hugging each other.Obviously la,since we hadn't met each other for years!
